Artist Statement

I’m fascinated by machinery such as how things are made. Like many things that we take for granted in daily life, conveyor systems that process and package food, devices that have been replaced by automation and new technology.  I’ve always like mystery, the intrigue of a finding a buried treasure.  Preserving history  and architecture also is important to me.  In the same respect I love mechanical objects, especially those objects that have history, usefulness, and aesthetic merit. The current series incorporates my fascination with machinery and mechanical items into juxtaposition and a cohesive artwork. I think that human form is also an amazing machine. We express so much through our gesture, body language and posture. I like to capture these gestures and release then into my work.  Somehow I find some correlation of man/woman and mechanical.
